Model AS-2 - Universal AutoSync 2-Way Lead/Lag Control

 

The AutoSync-2 sequencer is designed to work with any two rotary or reciprocating compressors with powered pressure switches currently controlling the starter coils. When properly installed, the Universal AutoSync-2 will operate both compressors in either manual or automatic lead/lag control and provide efficient operation and lead/lag cycling of both compressors. Automatic Lead/Lag Control is field adjustable to “alternate” lead machines anywhere from a 10 min to 7 day swap cycle.

Installation
The AutoSync-2 is connected between the compressor pressure switches and the compressor starter coil. 110v is required to operate the internal relay, automatic timer, and the pressure switch and starter coil. The starter must have a 110v or 230v coil regardless of main input power. Enclosure is 6” x 6” x 4”, NEMA 12.

Model AS2PT - Universal AutoSync with Pressure Transducers


The AS2PT AutoSync with Pressure Transducer Control is designed to work with any two rotary or reciprocating compressors, replacing the pressure switches currently controlling the starter coils. The AS2PT will operate both compressors in either manual or automatic lead/lag control and provide efficient operation and lead/lag cycling of both compressors. Automatic Lead/Lag Control is field adjustable to “alternate” lead machines anywhere from a 10 min to 7 day swap cycle.

The Pressure Transducer supplied with the AS2PT Controller overrides and replaces the two mechanical pressure switches and supplies highly accurate pressure control to the system.

Option: The AS2PT Controller can be supplied with starters. Inquire direct at SPP.

Installation
The AS2PT is supplied with a terminal block to connect the 115v on/off signal to the individual compressor starter coils.

Connections:
1. Power in to the controller – 115v
2. 115v signal power to Comp1 and Comp 2 starter coils
3. Air signal from receiver to the controller

Enclosure size is 12” x 12” x 6”, NEMA 12.

Model AS-3 - Universal AutoSync 3-Way Manual Lead/Lag Control

 

The AutoSync-3 sequencer is designed to work with any three rotary or reciprocating compressors with powered pressure switches currently controlling the starter coils. When properly installed, the UAS-3 will operate three compressors in manual control and provide efficient operation and lead/lag cycling of all three compressors. The lead/lag cycle is by manual selection only.

Installation
The AutoSync-3 is supplied with a terminal block for connection between the three compressor pressure switches and the compressors’ starter coils. 110v is required to operate the internal relay, automatic timer, and the pressure switch and starter coil. The starters must have 110v starter coils. Enclosure size is 11” x 7” x 6”, NEMA 12.

Model UASPT-115 - Universal AutoSync Simplex Lead/Lag Controller with Pressure Transducer

The Model UASPT is an evolved product specifically designed to lead/lag two compressors where one compressor has controls that are not accessible to the standard AutoSync technology. Pressure control is supplied by the UASPT via our included very accurate pressure transducer with display. The UASPT is attached to the accessible compressor.

The UASPT controller can also be installed in the conventional way to operate each compressor in automatic lead/lag control when both machines are accessible to the controller.

Installation
1. Wire the UASPT to the compressor starter coil (115v) removing the existing connection from the mechanical pressure switch.
2. Connect the common system pressure control line to the UASPT.
3. Power the controller – 1/60/115v.
4. Set the required “bracket pressures” on the Pressure Transducer.
5. Power the compressor with the “on-off” power

The lead/lag function is accomplished by the automatic switching of the controller pressures
bracketing the non-accessible compressor permanent pressure setting. The UASPT controller
is simple to install and brilliant and foolproof in function.

The non-accessible compressor is typically a rotary screw machine that has the Pressure Transducer and all controls enclosed in a circuit board. This precludes any lead/lag attachments from an outside source.

The accessible compressor is typically a machine that is controlled by a mechanical pressure switch.

The hour meter records the “on” time for the accessible compressor.  Compressor loaded light indicates when the compressor is pumping.  The operator can by-pass the auto lead/lag function by selecting the Compressor 1 lead or Compressor 2 lead position on the panel.

Enclosure size is 11” x 7” x 6”, NEMA 12.


Model AD Universal AutoDual (with Pressure Transducer to +/-1 psi differential)

 

The Universal AutoDual Model AD (in either 115v or 230v) is our flagship controller and is currently installed on compressors from 1-1/2 hp to 250 hp. It provides high efficiency control for any reciprocating or rotary screw air compressor. It eliminates common problems associated with compressors unloading for long periods of time or start/stopping too much, resulting in high efficiency operation with incredible control accurracy to 2/10 psi.

The AD offers the following high efficiency features:

  • Automatic dual control/timed-out-stop. Selectable from 4 to 20 minutes idle time.
  • 5-second automatic initial unloading, insuring very soft, stress-free starts
  • Hour meter
  • Emergency shutdown -- LOL, LOP, HAT
  • Remote signal for emergency shutdown
  • True lead/lag control -- manual or automatic (chronological)
  • Panel mounted tank drain controls -- no wasted air
  • High efficiency operation conforms to utility rebate requirements.

 

Model ADS  - Universal AutoDual/Starter Combination   (with Pressure Transducer to +/-1 psi differential)

 

 

The Universal AutoDual Starter Combination ADS expands on the high efficiency control and features of our standard AD115/230, and adds a Motor Starter. The addition of the starter makes the Universal Autodual a full function, turnkey system with all the outstanding control and operating features of the AD Controller. 2 wiring connections and 2 plumbing connections complete the installation. I.E.C. starter/overload, up to 60 hp, 460v, CUL Listed.

Model ADSE Lead/Lag Control for 2 Compressors

 

The Universal AutoDual ADSE offers Automatic or Manual duplexing and our exclusive Autodual control for any 2 compressors. Automatic sequencing is now STANDARD on all ADSE Controllers. The AutoDual ADSE swaps your lead compressor at a predetermined time (user selectable) from 10 minutes to 7 days. The lag compressor ALWAYS remains in standby mode to provide additional air automatically if required by your plant air system. Manual override is always available to "lock" your compressors in either Lead 1 or Lead 2 mode for service or maintenance on your compressors.

High efficiency system operation is achieved by a microprocessor controlled pressure transducer (accurrate to 2/10 PSI), with the console providing automatic dual control, timed-out-to-stop function for each compressor, and operate only the minimum amount of compressors required to maintain your shop air requirements.

Controller Dimensions 12" X 12" X 6" DP

Options available:

  • Emergency Shutdown -- 3 Individual fault shutdown circuits on each compressor for LOL, LOP or HAT with single remote signal sendout for all fault detects (24VDC output signal to remote relay, alarm etc)
  • High Efficiency Auto Drain. User selectable drain time duration based on compressor PUMPING time. No wasted air on unnecessary tank drain purges
  • Factory installed motor starters.

Safety:

Emergency Shutdown - External 6' Power cord connects to any non-powered normally closed (N.C.) emergency shutdown device, i.e., low oil pressure, low oil level, high air temperature, power line monitors, starter overload, or any of the above combinations. Failure of any of the above shuts the compressor motor down 20 seconds after receiving fault signal, activating flashing light on the Universal AutoDual.

Remote Shutdown Signal- Sends a remote fault signal (24VDC, 40ma) from AutoDual to a control room sensor,  or auxiliary remote audible or visual alarm.

Oil Pressure Switch - Din Mounted Low Oil pressure switch (10 P.S.I) triggers AutoDual Emergency Shutdown feature in low oil pressure condition.

Automatic Tank Maintenance:

Timed Tank Drain - Activates tank mounted solenoid drain for 5 seconds for every hour of compressor pumping time. Motor idle time does not affect the drain timer, saving energy and wasted air. Includes 6' Power cord to tank drain solenoid and Console mounted manual drain (test drain) button. Solenoid tank drain offered below.

Drain Duration Control -User selectable Drain "purge time".  Adjustable for 5, 10, or 20 second drain duration. Longer drain duration time used in high humidity environments. Front panel user Selectable switch.

Tank Drain - Din Mounted tank drain, used with timed tank drain feature above. Available in 110/220 Volts.

Waterproof Packaging:

Nema 4 Packaging - Universal AutoDual enclosed in a durable, watertight NEMA 4 rated Enclosure. Great for outdoor or high contaminant applications.

Internal Starter:

Model ADS and ASPSS AutoDual Controller with internal Motor Starter - Universal AutoDual Controller repackaged in a 12" X 12" X 6" NEMA 1 rated enclosure with IEC type motor starter (110/230/460/575 VAC).  Includes internal Control Voltage transformer on 200, 230, 460, & 575 Volt models.  UL Approved up to 92 FLA (Full Load Amperes)

High Pressure Applications:

Model ADS/HP AutoDual Controller for high pressure applications - Universal AutoDual Controller repackaged in a 12" X 12" X 6" NEMA 1 rated enclosure. Unit has adjustable pressure deadband function and pressure range adjustment to 5000 p.s.i. (Low pressure control air is required for head unloading)

Energy Savings

The Universal AutoDual is so effective it typically allows end users to recover the capital outlay of their entire compressor purchase within 3 years in energy savings alone. Here's how we do it:

Example:  A savings analysis of a 25 HP, 2 stage, reciprocating or rotary screw compressor operating a factory that is producing 7 days per week on three shifts (8760 hours per year).

Basis
25 HP = 23 KW x motor P.F. of 1.15 (power factor) = 26.45 KW
Unloaded KW = Full Load KW  (26.45KW) x
Unloaded KW (25%) x losses (part load motor efficiency
& power factor = 35% efficiency loss
Unloaded KW = 26.45 x 25 = 10.17KW

1st Shift: 75% Loaded, 25% Unloaded
2nd Shift: 40% Loaded, 60% Unloaded
3rd Shift: 20% Loaded, 80% Unloaded
Electric Rate:  $.10/KWH
Unloaded kW: 25% of Full Load = 10.17KW at
8760 hours per year

Total Annual Electric Energy Savings = 49,000 KwHrs/year

Unloaded kW Savings
1st Shift:  2920 hours x .25 x 10.17 x .10 = $743
 2nd Shift: 2920 hours x .60 x 10.17 x .10 = $1782
   3rd Shift:  2920 hours x .80 x  10.17 x .10 = $2375 Total Annual Power Savings:  $4900**
